What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. "Equivalent browser storage" (such as localStorage) works similarly but lives outside the cookie jar. Both let a site recognize a returning visit or remember a preference. Cookies set by this site's own domain are called first-party cookies; they cannot be read by other websites.

Why we use them
Analytics cookies tell us which pages are visited, which content is useful, and where forms confuse people — so the site can be improved. They do not identify you personally and are not shared with advertisers. For the broader picture of how your information is handled, see the Privacy Policy.
Controlling cookies
You can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings — the site will still work, analytics will simply be less accurate. To opt out of Google Analytics across all websites specifically, Google offers a browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Your browser's private/incognito mode also limits what analytics can remember between visits.
Analytics cookies are on by default. A notice at the bottom of the page on your first visit lets you decline them, and you can change that choice here at any time. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, the site treats it as a decline and loads no analytics.
